Today is one of those days where motivation is low.
Not gone completely—just quiet. The kind of day where the ideas feel heavier to reach, and everything takes a bit more effort than usual. Instead of forcing myself to be wildly productive, I reminded myself of something important: momentum doesn’t come from big wins every day.
It comes from not stopping.
On days like today, I shift how I work. I don’t push for finished pieces or big breakthroughs. I focus on staying connected to Dark Arts Canada in small, manageable ways.
Sometimes that looks like:
Opening a project and making one small change
Writing down ideas without turning them into products yet
Organizing files or notes
Or simply showing up and acknowledging where I’m at
Even writing this post counts.
I’ve learned that creativity isn’t linear. Some days are about creating, and some days are about maintaining the space so creativity has somewhere to return to. If I disappear completely on low-energy days, that’s when momentum really breaks.
So today, instead of judging myself for feeling unmotivated, I chose to stay present with the process. One small action keeps me moving forward. One small action keeps Dark Arts Canada alive and growing.
Tomorrow might bring more energy. Or it might not. Either way, I’ll still be here.
And that’s how I keep momentum going.
